I searched and searched for an external hard drive enclosure that had FW800 (and additional ports, just in case) for quite a while. Ran across the Taurus Super-S LCM, and the price almost made it seem too good to be true. I decided to take a chance on this one. When I opened the box, what I found was very close to Apple quality… perhaps equal. Excellent fit and finish. Lifting the solid unit out of the box, I saw several cords: FW400, USB, FW800, etc. I mean, who includes cords these days? What a nice surprise! I installed two 500GB SATA hard drives per the instructions (really easy). They are mounted on what appear to be silicone vibration dampers… nice touch again. Closed it up, plugged it in to my FireWire 800 port of my iMac, and formatted the drives (RAID 1). I was pleasantly surprised yet again as the product is whisper quiet. (I put my hand against the enclosure to make sure that the fan was working… it was moving a good amount of air. I'm trying to think of something negative to say about it, but I can't.
