[Thunder2 Quad] Can I install different drives and create separate RAID systems?

In short, the answer is yes. You can install 3.5" hard drives, 2.5" hard drives and 2.5" SSD's or even mix them. The AKiTiO Thunder2 Quad itselfs does not have a RAID controller, so all drives show up as independent volumes.

To create a RAID system, simply use the disk utility on the Mac, drag the volumes you would like to add into a set of drives and then create a RAID. For more information about Software RAID, please go to Support > Information Center > Learn more about Software and Hardware RAID.
