AKiTiO Thunder2 Quad Mini

I've had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with the AKiTiO Thunder2 Quad Mini SSD 4X1TB for about a year now, actually. It's small enough to pack in my suitcase when I fly or stuff in a gear case when I drive to do training and presentations. I've used it for logging 4K media files in the field in the back of my truck, to editing video in my hotel rooms to demoing Adobe workflows in my presentations. The speed of the Thunderbolt2 connectivity and the 4xSSD RAID make this an excellent choice for video production and doing live video demos. Read More...

Thunderbolt 2 dock comparison

AKiTiO’s Thunder2 Dock is impressively thin, portable, and made completely from Mac-matching metal. Measuring only 6.2″ by 3.8″ by 0.65″ — around the size of a typical portable hard drive — it’s volumetrically the smallest Thunderbolt 2 dock I’ve tested, and the easiest to throw in a bag. Though compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand, the Akitio Palm RAID delivers the fastest sustained read speed I've seen: close to 500MB/s in my testing. It also feels like it could take some punishment and has an integrated Thunderbolt cable, making it convenient to use. Read More...

If you add in a few Solid State Drives (SSDs), it will be very rugged and lightning-fast. Set it up in a RAID 0 and you'll enjoy fast data throughput for your more demanding edits. Read More...

AKiTiO Thunder2 Dock

Akitio’s Thunder2 Dock is a distinctive option both because of its thinner, bag-friendly form factor and its heavy focus on data transfers rather than A/V functionality. This isn’t necessarily the dock to pick if you want a one-cable connection to both an HDTV and your peripherals, but it’s a very streamlined and versatile way of connecting multiple USB, eSATA, FireWire 800 and Thunderbolt devices to a Mac all at once. AKiTiO ThunderGo

Akitio's ThunderGo is quite easily the quickest single drive solution we have tested, and while the price is sure to hit your wallet hard, it's well worth it if you want a top tier solution. Read More...

AKiTiO Thunder2 Dock

The Akitio Thunderdock 2 is a nice small box. It’s about the size of a small USB drive, so it has a very small footprint. And this box sports a lot of connections…two Thunderbolt ports for loop through (very important)…two bus powered USB 3 ports (backwards compatible with USB 2 and USB 1), two eSATA ports (up to 6Gbps), and one FW800 port.
